Twenty-fifth Anniversary Celebration Continues
The Arundel Vocal Arts Society wishes to thank everyone who attended
the December 2, 2007 performance of Cantiamo: Cantata and Carols.
Your enthusiastic applause and follow-up e-mails and comments were
greatly appreciated by the singers and music staff.
Information on the second performance of the AVAS' 25th anniversary
celebration can be found on the Concert page of the web site. The
program will begin with familiar oldies but goodies followed by light
and humorous pieces guaranteed to delight all ages. We look forward to
sharing some of our favorite music with you.
Message from the Director
Our spring concert is a celebration of 25 years of music making in the
Annapolis community. The variety and mass of repertoire that AVAS has
presented over the years is astonishing. The group has thrived under
the leadership and dedication of its conductors, charter members,
advisory board, the members of the group and YOU, its supportive
audience, friends and family, without whom there would be no reason to
perform.
The first half of the concert is a "Blast into the Past", a smattering
of favorite works from spring concerts of yesterday. The second half
of the concert hopes to be a "Blast!", music to tickle the funny bone:
a vocal Overture (William Tell), parodies of some of music's most
well-known compositions & composers and even a piece made famous by
Groucho Marx, to name a few. We invite you to a reception celebrating
our anniversary following the program.
I am honored to be among the select number of music directors that
AVAS has had. I am having a BLAST at the helm and hope you will join
us. "Let's Have a Blast" together!
