Membership
Rehearsals for the 2011-2012 Spring season begin on January 18th, and new membership is open through the 2nd week of February. A brief audition is required of potential members. There is a $100 membership fee and each singer purchases his/her own music. AVAS rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. in the Woods Community Center in Severna Park. EACH VOICE counts in AVAS. We number between 35 and 50 members, and every individual makes an important contribution to the total sound and atmosphere of the group. Our repertoire is diverse, including everything from Bach to Broadway. Each season presents new and challenging musical opportunities as we continue to improve our precision and vocal techniques.
Our fall concert this year features Giacomo Puccini's MESSA DI GLORIA, accompanied by orchestra and performed at the Eastport United Methodist Church, Bay Ridge Avenue, Eastport. The date is December 4th, the time 3pm. Tickets are $15, children thru middle school free with a paying accompanying adult.
Looking forward to the Spring, membership is also open for the first 4 weeks of rehearsals. “Food, Glorious Food” is the title of our April 28th concert; we’ll be singing about the many culinary delights we enjoy, childhood favorites, tasty main courses, dessserts and of course, beverages. We hope you will be in the audience as we return to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis, a 7pm concert, followed as always by a sumptuous reception. Come be fed by aural/oral delights!
